August 2024: FIRRE Paper Published !

Model of Rapid Gene Activation by the lncRNA Firre

Our latest study finds that lncRNA, named FIRRE, rapidly and robustly activates gene-expression changes and epigenetic states at these regulatory sites. In fact, it takes Firre only 30 minutes to open chromatin accessibility and observed de novo nascent transcription! Then about 2 hours later the mRNA is produced from the recently activated gene loci. What is even more impressive is that these new regulatory events are remembered for many days and cell divisions - thus are remembered. In short, this study shows that a lncRNA can modulate both epigenetic and gene-expression rapidly and roubustly! Congratulations to all the authors it was an impressive Firre team !
